Our Structure

Broadstep Academy provides exceptional instructional programming that promotes the development of our students’ ability to navigate skills necessary for academic success and maximum independence.

Each student’s educational program, curriculum and instruction is developed and assessed through a collaborative effort of qualified special education teachers, paraprofessional educators and individually assigned one to one aides, our students and their parents/guardians.

Our self-contained learning environments are designed to provide opportunities for growth in self-help communication, social and academic skills through multi-sensory approaches, individualized and group instruction.

We build strong, healthy relationships by fostering respect and the dignity of our students and families.

Objectives of the Program

Improve Each Child’s Self-Management Skills:

Assisting students and families in identifying triggers and developing plans to shape and manage behaviors.

Increased Level of Independence:

Develop and Improve Communication Skills:

Identifying and building on the most appropriate mode of communication for each student.

Develop Self-Advocacy Skills:

Involving choices and involving students in decision-making, students’ voices are heard, building confidence and self-esteem.

Increase and Develop Social Skills:

Various programs provide group and individual opportunities to interact and role play specific skills to navigate social settings.

Strength-based programming that focuses on maximizing student independence.
